As I said, next time, we would look at how to put this deep understanding
of God’s love for you to use in soulwinning, so here we go. I have also
included comments to use in ministering to the lost.
Romans 3:23. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Here, we tell them this doesn’t mean that God is some sort of mean
grandfather type waiting to bash you on the head with a frying pan every
time you mess up. All this is saying to you is that outside of Jesus
Christ, there is nothing you can do to satisfy God.
Romans 5:8. But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were
yet sinners, Christ died for us. Now what we do here is plug the name of
the person we are ministering to, so we would have “But God commended (or
demonstrated) His love toward John, in that while John was still a
sinner, Christ died for John”. No disservice to the text, we’re making
the Gospel personal.
Romans 6:23. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What we do here is to tell
them that without Christ, their eternal future is in hopeless jeopardy.
But, do tell them there is Good News: with Jesus, through faith in what
He did, they can live forever!
Right about now, be sure to tell its not about belonging to any
particular church being baptized in water or anything like that to be
born again. What they have to do is this:
Romans 10:9-10. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved. (v. 10) For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
And here’s some more Good News to share with them:
Romans 10:13. For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be
saved.
Be sure to tell them here, this means you. And something along the line
of ‘we can pray right now, OK?’ For those of you who have never led a
lost person to Christ, here’s a good model sinner’s prayer. Have them
repeat it in 3- 5 word phrases, about where I divide it by lines here.
Father,
I come to you
In Jesus’ name.
Sin
Satan
I don’t serve you any more.
Jesus Christ
I take you
As my Lord and Saviour
. Holy Spirit,
Come into my life
and teach me how
to live the Christian way.
I say I am saved right now
By faith, In Jesus’ name.
Thank you, Father
For saving me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Be real encouraging here, be sure to tell them that, if they really meant
what they just prayed, then they are now a Christian, they are saved,
things of that sort. What I always do when I go on, I’ll say, “See you in
Heaven, and God bless you.”
Finally, I’d say mark those Scriptures in your Bible, so you can have
them handy. Also, mark the next one by each, so you’d have a little ‘5:8’
next to Rom. 3:23. Also, do let us know as you put this to use, and lead
folks to Christ, so we can rejoice with you. Well, that about does it for
this time.
Jesus Is Lord,
